What tippers pay
By default, tippers cover a small processing fee so you receive the full tip amount. They can choose to pay less and let the fee come out of the tip instead.
| Method | Tipper pays | You receive | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Pay / Google Pay | Tip + ~6% service charge | The full tip amount | Fastest — wallet sheet on tap. Tipper covers the fee by default. |
| Credit or debit card | Tip + ~6% service charge | The full tip amount | QuikTip (2.5%) and Stripe (1.5% + 20p) fees, covered by the tipper by default. |
| Pay by Bank (Open Banking) | Tip + 30p flat | The full tip amount | Cheapest option. Settles via Faster Payments. |
The ~6% service charge on cards covers QuikTip's 2.5% platform fee and Stripe's 1.5% + 20p processing fee. On a £10 tip, the tipper pays £10.61 and you receive £10.00.
Frequently asked
- When do I get paid?
- Tips land in your Stripe balance immediately. QuikTip covers the cost of paying you out, funded by our platform fee — so once you're taking a modest amount in tips each month, your payouts are free and you can have as many as you like. By default we release automatically on a monthly schedule anchored to your signup date; you can switch to fortnightly or weekly from your dashboard.
If you're below that level, we hold your tips until you reach it, because a payout would otherwise cost more than the account has earned. You can still request an early payout at any time — a small fee applies to cover the cost, and it comes out of your subsequent tips rather than your customers' pockets. Either way, we never hold your money longer than 90 days. - Why don't you charge a subscription?
- We earn a small platform fee on each tip, paid by the tipper. That keeps things simple — no fixed cost to worry about on a quiet week.
- What if I want to refund a tip?
- Refunds are rare on tips, but they happen. Email us and we'll sort it via Stripe. A full refund returns the total charged amount to the tipper.
- Are you available outside the UK?
- Not yet. We're launching in the UK first; the Republic of Ireland is next on the list.
